Amy Rodger

Head Coach

Amy graduated with First Class Honours in BSc Sports Coaching. She joined Hamble Aquatics in 2015 after having previously worked at Portsmouth Northsea Swimming Club where she had been a squad coach for two years.

Our Head Coach has been in and around water all her life, swimming competitively since the age of 10, specialising as a distance swimmer with her main event being the 1500m freestyle.  After shadowing her Head Coach and achieving Level 1 in Teaching Aquatics, she decided this was the direction she would like to take her career and applied for a degree in Sports Coaching. During her degree, Amy worked with British Swimming down in Portsmouth, where she gained her Level 1 and 2 in Coaching Swimming.

Amy’s goal is to help every member of our club to reach their swimming potential, whether that be at club, Hampshire County ASA, ASER South East Regional or National level.

Phil Wilson

Phil Wilson

Assistant Head Coach

Phil has been coaching at the club for many years. He swam for Hamble Aquatics from the age of seven to 14 and returned back to the club in 2011 to help with coaching having being qualified as a ASA Swim Teaching Level 1 & 2.

Now in his late 20s, a father of two young girls and holding down a busy office job, Phil loves to get poolside to motivate all the club members to be their best they can.

More recently Phil has decided to return to the pool after the club’s trip to Lanzarote. When he isn’t coaching Phil joins our Master swimmers, sometimes showing the swimmers how it’s done.

Scott Dawson

Scott Dawson

Coach

Scott started swimming at the age of 18 months, as the doctors advised his parents to keep him mobile due to suspected meningitis. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case and as Scott grew older, he become a competitive swimmer and represented England in Germany when he was 12.

Sailing took over Scott’s life and in later years he rediscovered his passion for swimming and in 2016 swam 104 km non-stop around the Isle of Wight, in a time of 25 hours and 56 minutes becoming the 5th person in history to do it.

Since then Scott has become a Level 2 Coach and a J1 Swim England Judge and is always on the look out for another challenge.
